  • What Lakes are near Chaffeys Lock?
    Trailside at Chaffeys lies between Indian Lake to the north and Opinicon Lake to the south. Chaffeys Lock is one of several locks along the historic Rideau Waterway that stretches from Ottawa to Kingston. There are three marinas close by.
  • What shopping is available near Chaffeys Lock?
    Chaffeys Lock has Brown’s General Store. The nearby villages of Elgin and Westport offer almost all your basic shopping needs, including grocery stores, hardware stores, department stores, outfitters, restaurants, banks and other services. Kingston is about 40 minutes to the south.
  • What hospitals are near Chaffeys Lock?
    The Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital in Smiths Falls is the closest hospital to Chaffeys Lock. The nearby villages of Elgin, Newboro, Portland and Westport offer medical clinics, dental, chiropractic, and other medical services.
  • What is road access like?
    Lots 1 to 3 front onto Marina Road, which is a year-round crushed rock surface road maintained by the Township of Rideau Lakes. Lots 4 to 6 front onto Chaffeys Lock Road which is a paved County Road.
  • Where do we go for building permits and information on approval requirements and zoning?
    The Township of Rideau Lakes office is located at 1439 County Road 8 in the hamlet of Chantry. Visit www.rideaulakes.ca for more information.
  • Who owns and maintains the adjacent parkland?
    The Township of Rideau Lakes owns the park and will determine park activities. There is currently a network of recreational trails.
  • Can you recommend qualified builders and trades?
    Yes, we are well connected with quality home builders and trades in the area. Some are noted on our website. Please contact us about your building expectations and we will be glad to refer you to the appropriate builders and trades to develop your lot.
  • Are there any special restrictions on home construction or the timing of when work must be completed?
    In addition to zoning provisions, Lots 3 to 6 are subject to a development agreement with the Township that, among other things, stipulates protective measures for natural areas. There are no time limitations on when work must be completed.
  • How are the lots serviced?
    Lots will require on-site well and sewage disposal services.  Lot 3 already has a drilled well, and all lots have constructed driveways to the proposed building sites. Hydro and telephone lines are at the road.
  • Are the prices negotiable?
    No, the advertised prices are not negotiable. HST is in addition to the purchase price. HST rebates are available if the purchase is ultimately for a principal residence.
