The community features an expansive private beach that offers a peaceful place to swim, walk, or watch the sunset. The safe shallow waters of PEI’s south shore are among the warmest north of the Carolinas. Gateway Village in Borden has a variety of restaurants and specialty shops, including the famous Cow's Ice Cream, just eight minutes to the west.

Travel east ten minutes and walk the quaint tree-lined streets of historic Victoria-by-the-Sea, with its incredible seafood restaurants, cafes and live summer theatre. Sunset Dunes residents enjoy four-season paved road access and extensive natural areas of common open space.

The Cape Traverse River Estuary is adjacent to the entrance of the community and offers a place to put in your kayak and explore the river or let the tidal waters carry you to the dunes at the river mouth.
